The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria was established as an umbrella Association for Practitioners of Personnel Management in 1968 as the Personnel Management Association of Nigeria. In 1973, it was renamed as Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria. Finally, Act No 58 of 1992 chartered the Institute. The CIPM is the regulatory body chartered by law to regulate the practice of Human Resource Management in Nigeria.
The objectives of the Institute are as follows:
- To promote and develop the science and practice of personnel management in all its ramifications
- To foster and maintain investigations and research into the best means, and method of applying the science and art of Personnel Management
- To develop and maintain high standard of professional competence and ensure that the management of human resource in Nigeria, both in public and private sectors, conforms with the best professional standards
- To conduct research into and publish materials relating to the discipline of Human Resource Management.

Overview:
Having a key role to play in promoting and developing the science and practice of personnel management in all its ramifications, and also driving high standards of professional competence in the Human Resources ecosystem the Institute got to a turning point where its future years’ strategy will make a difference in the future of the country.
Following a set of thorough internal analysis and environmental scans, CIPM invited us to support their efforts in formulating a sound strategic plan for 2022-2025 and facilitate the communication of the new directions to the key stakeholders of the Institute.
